Ayn Rand often received the question “Why do you use the word selfishness to denote virtuous qualities of character, when that word antagonizes so many people to whom it does not mean the things you mean?”
She said “For the reason that makes you afraid of it.” I always liked that answer, but unfortunately it doesn’t do anything about the confusion that pervades selfishness, especially with men and women who have a negative view of it or who have never read her books.

Ayn Rand states “A contradiction cannot exist. An atom is itself, and so is the universe; neither can contradict its own identity; nor can a part contradict the whole. No concept man forms is valid unless he integrates it without contradiction into the total sum of his knowledge. To arrive at a contradiction is to confess an error in one’s thinking; to maintain a contradiction is to abdicate one’s mind and to evict oneself from the realm of reality.”

Last Friday I published “The Objectivist Chooses the Path of Mysticism. I must state that the article is not an endorsement of mysticism. It showed the dangers of the mystical way of life.
No doubt you’ve heard about the virtue of selflessness. I discovered an article from someone named Tara who explains a mystical sense of life.
What is Selflessness?
Being selfless means to put the needs of others before your own – a form of self-sacrifice.

In the article Christian Objectivism: Possibility or Contradiction we explored whether Christianity is compatible with Objectivism…or not. Now it’s time to find out if the Four Noble Truths of Buddhist philosophy tie in with the philosophy of reason and action.
Do you ever think about your trials and tribulations and wonder if life is worth the daily effort you must put forth? You’ve probably noticed that as soon as one desire is satisfied a new one pops up and demands satisfaction. You feel as if you are on an endless treadmill of attempting to satisfy wants and desires.
Are you familiar with the “Four Noble Truths” of Buddhist philosophy? They are:

Sean Edwards states Christian Objectivism is a worldview that synthesizes the Christian faith with Ayn Rand’s philosophy called Objectivism.
It’s always nice when Objectivism attracts men and women to its marvelous philosophy of life. However, we must ask: “Is Christian Objectivism a possibility or a contradiction?” Let’s find out.

We can place booms, busts, bubbles and economic catastrophes firmly on the lap of the Federal Reserve System. Individuals such as Alan Greenspan and Ben Bernanke should have know better…yet they contributed to monstrous booms that finally collapsed, leaving many people’s financial and personal affairs in complete disarray.
Around the hard money camp, these “prestigious” Fed Chiefs are known by their nicknames “Bubbles” Greenspan and “Helicopter” Bernanke. I’m not sure if old Alan got his nickname from his preference for bubble baths or bubble economies. Bernanke once remarked something about tossing dollars out of helicopters.
In this article, we’re concentrating on the monetary policies of Alan Greenspan. Let’s find out if his tenure as Fed Chief violates the economic policies Objectivists believe in. Is he a traitor to Objectivism?

A person leaves school and vows he will never be subject to that torture again. The result: The disillusioned individual often drifts through life with a closed mind…and a resistance to new ideas and new ways of living. The virtues of Objectivism, reason and laissez faire capitalism remain outside of his awareness. Eventually, he (she) settles into a comfort zone of boredom and stagnation. Finally, his life becomes unsettled, filled with one crisis after another. A changing world won’t let him cling to his uninspiring routines.

Let’s visit Objectivist Philosophy and investigate the illusion of existence.
Politics: Individual Rights and Capitalism
Objectivism supplies capitalism with its logical and moral foundation—with its spirited defense of individual rights. Objectivism is 100% correct in its advocacy of capitalism and individual rights.
Our current political system is corrupt and anti-life. Our “beloved” political and financial leaders unwittingly cause havoc to our faltering economic system. Years of government interventionism with help from the Federal Reserve System dealt our economy severe blows. Now it is on life support. And how does our economic “doctors” treat the patient? With the arsenic of ZIRP AND QE, guaranteeing the patient eventually expires from a combination of dehydration and massive internal bleeding. How many 0.25% increases do you think will cause its death?

My name is RA Meyer. For years I have devoted my life to studying and attempting to practice the principles of Objectivism. I could tell you about my sacrifices during this period…how I selflessly gave and gave. Hopefully you know this isn’t true. I would never purposely sacrifice a higher value for a lower value. All of my efforts corresponded to my value system. I always live what I believe to be my highest values. And living the life of an Objectivist Warrior is my highest value.
What really fired me up and caused me to change the format of this blog was the marvelous discovery of three works of Ayn Rand at a local Half Price bookstore.

Originally, I created Master the Social Maze blog for the Everyday Warrior. After posting 47 articles, I noticed the ones on Objectivism were the most popular. So, I took 7 week vacation. My conclusion: Write the blog for individuals interested in Objectivism and its applications. I will supply more information on the development in a future article. I’ve already changed the name of the blog to The Objectivist Warrior Masters the Social Maze.
Now…on to the latest article.
I came across an article by Timothy Sexton titled “Warning: Your Teenager May Be Reading Ayn Rand.” Reading his analysis might make someone believe she represents the evil mechanisms of the devil. Let’s find out if he’s on to something quite sinister….or if he completely misrepresents Ayn Rand and Objectivism.
